2017 Numbers are just in......

WOW!! What a summer. Over 15 sites manned Monday through Thursday for 8 weeks! Together we served

7,525 lunches and a whole lot of kids had food every day.

Thank you does not even scratch the surface to our Volunteers, Kitchen Volunteers, Wenatchee School District, Washington Trust Bank, Numerica Credit Union, Together for Youth, Local Businesses, churches, Principals, Teachers, Students, Skill Source, Charter College, Panther Cheer Leaders, Girls Soccer Team, Applesox Team and all the other folks that helped make this year a huge success.

We are well under way for 2018 and getting ready to add more locations. A huge thank you to our friends at Cycle Central and Dutch Brothers for your generous support.

On behalf of all the kids who made it through the summer and are back in school, THANK YOU ALL for a great summer.

Stay tuned.

Linda

Here comes 2017....

Things are hopping here as we round out our sites for 2017 at 15. This is adding two more than last year and lots of hungry kids.

Volunteers are most definitely needed to man these sites and to make sure that every day someone is at each site for any child that comes. With 15 sites - that means a minimum of 30 people each day to serve.

We can also use some kitchen help if you are interested in getting the coolers ready for pickup.

We are thrilled that Washington Trust Bank, Columbia Grove Covenant Church and Trinity Church will be manning a site for the entire summer with their volunteers. THANK YOU!!

We cannot accomplish our efforts without your help. If you can spare an hour - we would love to have you.

More to come. Stay tuned.

2016 winds up with a record number of lunches!!

Another summer is in the books. Small Miracles served 5,385 lunches over the summer making a new record as they finished their fifth year serving children in the community.

Thank You to all the volunteers that make the program possible. Over 250 folks took time out of their busy schedules to help us man every location every day so no child went without a nutritious lunch Monday through Thursday this summer.

Thank You to Wenatchee School District for all the really great lunches you prepared for us allowing many more children than ever before to eat.

Thank you to our Sponsorships this year, allowing Small Miracles to have all the Non-Food supplies needed to comply with State and local regulations. Thank you Numerica Credit Union, Confluence Health, Washington Trust bank, Follies Guild, Junior Service League and many other businesses and personal donations that were crucial to a successful program. We are extremely grateful.

October Update

2015 Campaign Wrap-Up

The final numbers have been tallied and the paperwork is almost completed for the 2015 campaign of the Summer Food Program.

Up Next

We are hard at work preparing for 2016 campaign and building awareness for the program to all families in the community. Small Miracles is all about healthier eating for kids and families and are working hard to improve upon this year's program, to be even better next year!

We have been invited to help with the Coalition for Healthier Community project and brainstorming with them to come up with ways for kids to eat healthier and make healthier choices. This partnership is a regional endeavor and encompasses Confluence Health, Amerigroup, Chelan-Douglas Health Department and Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council, just to name a few. A pilot educational piece of the program will begin October 7th at Mission View Elementary, as an after school program that will run for 6 weeks with 2 sessions of 25 kids each.

We have been working with the Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council to find a champion within the Hispanic Community that can help us get the word out about our Summer Food Program with families. Through the Council’s recommendation, we have located someone and will be introducing them to the Board of Directors at the next meeting on the 19th of October.

We have been asked to participate in the United Way's Program to eliminate generational poverty in our area. 40 families will be chosen to participate and resources will be made available to them to better their situation. This program is set to begin in early November.

We have been asked to teach a class in early December for the Life-Skills Workshop to promote Small Miracles and the life skill of "volunteering!"

Look for Small Miracles in and about the community as we continue our fund raising efforts, and prepare for the 2016 Campaign. Thank you in advance for partnering with us for healthier kids!

2015 - What a summer!

What a summer this was!

This year we increased our serving sites from a few, to 10! With this increase, came new logistical challenges, but Small Miracles really rose to the challenge. This year we served over 3800 to hungry children. Of course, we could not have accomplished any of this without our amazing volunteers! A big shout out to everyone who helped us feed the hungry. We had well over 125 volunteers sign up to help us!

We are taking a couple of weeks to refresh, and then watch out, we are already thinking of next year!
